Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle Accuracy Upgrade
I want to say thank you very much for the Barrel Stabilizer I purchased from you back at the very beginning of December 2022. I was impressed by the quality of the stabilizer along with the tools and sufficiently-detailed instructions that came with the kit. Everything went together and fit perfectly, looks real nice now.
While this is not the first barrel stabilizer I ‘ve installed on this Mini-14, it IS the only one that has worked properly. A little back- ground --- I purchase this pencil-barreled Mini-14 back in either 2005 or 2007, I don’t remember exactly. This has been the absolute worst shooting gun I’ve ever owned. This one example has poisoned me against Ruger firearms in general since its purchase. This rifle was so shitty (sorry for the vulgarity, but in this case it is oh-so-well deserved) I was too embarrassed to even give it away. It was simply put away in the back of the closet years ago. Out of sight, out of mind so to speak. It has only been recently that I’ve been able to have a little extra spending money and the ability to even afford one last try to fix this gun. I wish I had bought your barrel stabilizer long ago. I ran through 60 rounds of 5.56 this afternoon and the rifle performed flawlessly. Surprised the hell out of me! This rifle will be used on the coyotes that like to come through here and grab a chicken or duck for lunch. I personally like the looks and feel of this little rifle quite a bit more than the M4 that I have sitting in the rack by the front door. That’s the only reason I’ve kept this red-headed stepchild of a rifle. You have saved this gun from being demolished and tossed into the trash. I do not believe in passing junk off as worthwhile, even to a stranger.
You, sir, have performed a mechanical miracle with this rifle. I wish to sincerely thank you for your creativity and skill in the creation of this wonderful piece of kit. Best wishes to you and yours in all your future endeavors.
-Tim Henline Middle of Nowhere, ArizonaThank you Mr. Emmitt. Happy Thanksgiving to you and crew. I recently purchased an adjustable gas block for my mini 14 and it's working out well. I appreciate you and your company. Thanks again, Chad Adkisson
Outstanding Mini 14 Alloy Hand Guard is a quality product. Replacing Rugers (quality) plastic rail with a precision real gun metal rail just makes the rifle pop. Understanding that Ruger $600-$1000 guns are production guns. Your piece stands out. No adjustment or fitting required. You and Midwest are now my go to first for after-market accessories.

Thank you very much Carl. You guys do very nice work! Thank you

Carl,
I thought I would update you on the progress with my Mini 30, that I returned to Ruger towards the first part of October, because of accuracy problems. They actually got it back to me sooner than expected (about two and one half weeks). They said that they had polished the chamber, replaced the bolt assembly, and replaced the hammer. It also looks like they worked on the barrel crown as well, though that was not mentioned. They sent a 12" splatter target with a large 5" sight-in target located in the middle, and four 2" targets in the corners. Their sight-in area looked about what the rifle had been doing for me on its best days, with five shots spread over 5". The four corners each had 3 shot groups, with spreads of 2" to 2.5". There was also a photo of another target that had a three shot group of 1.25" with some different ammo.
Once I got the rifle back, I shot two five shot groups with a couple of different types of ammo, without changing anything. The first group was with GECO 123gr that had a spread of about 6". The second group was some Federal AE 124gr that grouped at about 3".I then put all of my ASI parts back on the rifle (strut, heavy return spring, rear buffer) and my Longer ASI firing pin, as well as my four pound trigger spring. With those parts installed, I was able to shoot two more five shot groups with the Federal ammo that were about 2" or better (1.5" if you eliminate the two worst flyers).
It appears that it is much better now after they worked it over. It must not have been chambering the rounds consistently, with the rough chamber, and whatever they decided was wrong with the bolt. It does feel like the action operates a little more smoothly now by hand. The bolt assembly might have been replaced because they noticed that their factory firing pin was protruding to about .038".The factory pin protrusion on the replacement bolt measured .026". My firingpins.com pin now measures .0365". Hopefully that is enough to reliably fire all types of ammo. If not, I may have to order another longer one from ASI.
Thanks so much for your help with this issue.

Hi Carl,
I broke in the Custom Mini 14 barrel per your specifications using 35 rounds of Winchester .223 and she is purring like a kitten. What a huge difference! That trigger is the best I've ever used, no question. So, thank you again.-Travis Hunter
Hello Carl,
I received the Mini 14 walnut stock. It’s beautiful !!! I was amazed at what a nice looking stock it is. I just installed the stock on my new Ruger and it fits perfect. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect fit. Great product well worth the price. Thanks,

Mini 14 trigger job
Just wanted to say “Job well done”! The Duty trigger job is now smooth as silk. Combined with the trigger enhancement and over travel stop, and it’s now a joy to shoot.
I will highly recommend your services.
Thanks, Rob.
Thank you!
The vented birch hand guard arrived fast, it fits perfectly and the finish matches the factory wood!

Thank you Carl,
You did it again!
Handguard is beautiful!
May God continue to give you the strength to continue your fine work.
Good afternoon, I’ve got your fantastic adj gas block & stabilizer on my ‘90s Mini 14. Would you happen to know about or have a reason to suspect the Hannibal rail (replacing the stock hand cover)would NOT install/work as designed ?
Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
JAnthonyHi, The Bolt pattern should match up. Thank you Carl @ ASI
The tumbled hand guard arrived. Attached is a photo of it installed on a Davidson mini-14. Looks great.
Thank youMark Sasarak
Carl,
Thank you for the update. I ordered mine Mini-14 Alloy Hand guard, and it actually arrived this afternoon.
The quality is outstanding and it fit perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with it. I will definitely be ordering a barrel stabilizer and adjustable gas block in the next couple months.
Thanks again and take care-

Subject: Phone order question
Hi all,I just wanted to drop a note regarding a phone order I made earlier in the week for a set of Mini 14 stock reinforcement screws/washers and two Mini 14/30 XL firing pins.
At the time you had not received shipment of the firing pins but would fulfill my order when you had.
I’ve noticed that they are in stock.
Thank You for all assistance.
I love your products as well as your friendly Customer Service.
Have a Great Day,

Just wanted to say THANKS for the (1) Excellent work on my Mini 14 trigger (2) Lightning-fast service.
Much appreciated!
George MastroianniMagnificent! Meets all expectations! Wow! Thank you Carl. Ought work well in the Folding Stock also! Great work! Thomas Brice
Good Morning Carl: my Mini 14 is perfect. I have let one or two other people shoot it, one who was much much much better than me. 3 Varmint-X through the same hole in the target! Whomever shoots it gets to do the “multi bore-snake” cleaning after 3 shots : )
Looking to build a lightweight durable Mini-30 in 350 legend. This will be way more of an in-use rifle than the first one you built for me, so it will likely be the factory nylon stock with slip-on recoil pad to adjust for my arm length.
Question: since it is a straight wall, does the Garand action cycle well? Yes Stock or custom mag required? Uses The Ruger 6.8 magazine General idea of recoil with a suppressor? Yes - Assume it is pretty light, my ASI mini-14 has NONE. Which model do you recommend purchasing since barrel and bolt will be changed?
I am looking for: Light weight 20” barrel with recoil compensation The wonderful open sights in red fluorescent bead you put on my first rifle (best I have ever used) A barrel that requires a little less tending than the Krieger and can deal with being out in the field. Cheers / Robert
Carl,
I want to thank you again for all your hard work. As I said, after leaving you I headed to Lead Valley Range. The rifle worked FLAWLESSLY!!!! The trigger pull is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I took the liberty of adjusting the gas valve on the Harmonic Barrel Stabilizer and got the brass to deposit itself about 5 feet to the right and about two feet forward of my shooting position (consistently!!). Finding my brass was amazingly simple. I really am glad that I sought out your services. I plan to recommend you to at least one friend who I know has a Mini-14.
Take care, and thank you again.

Thank y’all.I assume the extra firing pin is a spare.
Which guns do ya specialize in ?

Hey Carl, Gary Snow here just wanted to let you know I got my trigger job back last week, you had to install the trigger stop screw, great job, really nice crisp break, Very happy with it. Thanks again Gary Snow.
Sent from my iPadCarl,
I'm the guy who was having a cycling issue with my cloned AC-556 (bolt failing to lock back on last round). As we discussed this you suggested a new ASI high pressure gas pipe. I have since installed it and it works great, problem solved. Thanks so much for walking me through the issue and nailing a solution.
Mike KellySand Point, Michigan
PS - the AC-556 sighted upper gas block cap fit beautifully as well.
Greetings,
Just wanted to let you know my new Harmonic Barrel Stabilizer for my mini 14 worked like a champ. First two shot there was no ejection, so I backed off the gas port screw just a tad and the next shots all feel about 3 to 4 yards away. I have a red dot sight on a pic rail and at 75 yds groups were less than 2 inches from a bench rest. Now I think I will send in my trigger for a basic rework.
Thanks for making a great product and good product support
Rick
Hello,
Not too long ago I had you guys do an advanced trigger job on my Mini 14 and I absolutely love it! So nice!!

Hi Guys,
Very impressed with the design of Gen 5 Mini-14 Gas Block and build quality, very nicely done.
Just thought you might want to know....
Thanks,
SeanCarl,
I received my walnut mini 14 stock and handguard yesterday. It’s beautiful and done very well. Exceeded my expectations! Thank you. Mark Moore
Sent from my iPhoneCarl,
The Custom Mini 30 is dialed in and working flawlessly. It is absolutely amazing how smooth this rifle is.
I replaced the little action screws with longer stainless ones and they have not backed off a bit.
For accuracy testing I mounted a scope and the results are fabulous.
Other than red army ammo, I have not found a ammo brand that won’t shoot around 1” or under. So far it likes the 154gr Tula soft point the best but the 122gr HP is very close.
Thanks for everything.

Carl,
Frontsite Firearms is closed on Mondays so I picked up the rifle today. I shot 120 rounds through it. Most four shot groups were less than 1 inch. The picture is my best 4 shot group! I never thought I would be able to shoot a one hole 4 shot group with a simi-auto rifle. The 3# single stage trigger is awesome & the Maxi Brake lets me watch the rounds hit the target. Once again you have exceeded my expectations!
What does a guy have to do to get a rifle that will shoot? This was shot in an indoor range with PMC Bronze 55 grain FMJ-BT ammo. With really good quality ammo there is no telling what this thing can do. Later this month I will run it out to 500 yards outdoors and see what it can really do. Thanks again for a great shooting rifle! Jerry Clayton (Webmaster)
Good Morning,
My name is Stephen Meyer and I am a first time buyer from Accuracy Systems. I myself have been in sales nearly 40 plus years.I wanted to write a email to let you know that I received a call from your customer service/shipping dept on Friday. The gentlemen introduced himself and said he was getting ready to ship out the parts for me but wanted to ask me a few questions. He questioned if I had inadvertently ordered a part blued instead of stainless like the rest of my order. I had told him the website had said you were sold out of the stainless steel part. He said they have them back in stock and would I like him to ship the stainless instead? I said that would be great!
He proceeded to ask me a series of questions about the rest of my order and after our discussion. He said I wouldn't really need another part that I ordered but that a factory part would be all I needed. Since the factory part was less than the part I ordered he then asked if I wanted store credit or return the amount back onto the card ? I was thrilled that I had learned a lot from my discussion with this gentleman regarding my mini 14. I didn't hesitate for a second and said I will take it in store credit! Just wanted to let the company know that it has been a very long time since I have received a call like this. The care, attention to detail, the willingness to go the extra step with explanations was so very refreshing. I wanted to let your company know that Carl's phone call to me was by far the best customer service I have received in at least 20 years! I look forward to ordering from Accuracy Systems again in the future.
Stephen Meyer
I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how incredibly pleased I am with your Harmonic Barrel Stabilizer II with adjustable gas block for my Mini-14. I bought this rifle back in 1986 and haven't been able to hit the broad side of a barn with it at ten feet. Groupings at 50 feet measured in FEET, not inches. I put it in my safe and forgot about it. I ran across your website and was interested but didn't really believe that anything could fix it. I took a chance and bought and installed it and WOW! Groups were instantly one inch at 150ft! Worth every penny, now my Mini is what it was supposed to be from the factory. Think I'll have you do a trigger job next, you guys are the best.
Sincerely, Edward EnnisI received my Mini 14 rifle a couple of days ago. It looks fantastic! It’s got just a little scarring to connect it with its past and modern touches that bring it into the future. Exactly what I wanted. I look forward to getting out on the range not being able to blame missing the target on the rifle. Thanks again for all your hard work on this.
